The Surf Life Saving movement is steeped in tradition and holds an exceptional place in the hearts and souls of the wider community for the dedication of the volunteers like yourself who for many years have provided exceptional life saving services to the recreating public and visitors to the Golden Beaches of our country. No member is exempt from the expectations and guidelines laid down in the clubs Constitution and its By-Laws. Likewise all memebrs are bound by the rules and Code of Conduct that have been maintained by the wider Surf Life Saving Community. These Laws and Codes are not onerous and in general are minimum expectations that any ordinary person would consider practical and thoughtful. They are good guidelines for any individual in the manner in which they interact with others. As members progress in the Club and some of you will take on increasing operating capacities as Gear Steward, Club House Director, Club Captain, Treasurer, Secretary Vice President or President you will assume greater responsibility and will become a leader who would further promote the codes of conduct to fellow club members. So from early days as flippers through nippers and cadets, juniors and seniors to Club officials, Old Boys and Life Members you will gain personally and professionally from following the rules and codes of conduct that your Club has in place. Accordingly as you move through the ranks, greater expectation is placed on the individual member to be role models for other membErs and on behalf of the club, by upholding these values and codes of conduct. As with any set of standards - especially within a publically funded volunteer organisation - there are penalties for not following the guidelines - however all members are there to support each other to ensure they are not. When you read the constitution you will notice that provision has been made to deal with situations that are contrary to the laws of the club. Below are the various documents that members are encouraged to read and understand as they interact with other members and the general public in the performance of their duties and otherwise whilst on club premises and whilst representing the Club or Life Saving in any capacity.
